Interview with the Wellington Regional News

I am pleased to share a copy of my interview, which has been featured in the Wellington regional News.

Ever evolving

Winston Churchill once said that the environment shapes us more than we shape it.

For iPamp creative director David Crout, creating a space that benefits the people and the planet is paramount. When he entered the business in 2019, these ideals of sustainability and adaptability were at the centre of his ever-changing iPamp tiny homes.

“Before I set up iPamp, I wrote down my goals, invest in the people and the planet, and that’s what the acronym for iPamp is,” David says. “The slogan for the business is ‘Ever Evolving’, and we want to create a better sustainable way of living.”

Following three years of research and development, David designed several prototypes, starting from scratch when he found superior solutions. The result is a tiny home that gives people the freedom to adapt the space to their needs, making it more dynamic, fluid, and tailored to their lifestyle. The joinery system caters to growth and change, with exclusive pegboard walls featuring a click-in wall system designed to be in flux.

“We wanted to create a living environment for people that was good for their mental health and to stimulate their creativity,” David says. Versatility is key to supporting an evolving and sustainable way of life.

iPamp tiny homes are multi-use. Thanks to the wall joinery system, you can rearrange the space in seconds, from a dining room for guests to a boutique Airbnb, an inspiring office to a creative haven for art or music, a gym to a seaside bach, and anything in between. With iPamp, you can adjust your home to suit your lifestyle forever. No matter how much you change, your tiny home will evolve alongside you.

“In sustainable designs, we try to create products that serve a lot of use,” David continues. “You’re not disposing; you’re using it for different things.”

Plus, each tiny home is classed as a standard vehicle and can be moved anywhere thanks to its lightweight, safe, and corrosion-resistant aluminium construction.

“We tell people it’s a blank canvas. When they come into our workshop, we tell them everything we do and then we step back and tell them to use their imagination for what they want to do in it,” David says. “If you change your environment, you change yourself.”
